MobileChat on 1.1.3

We’ll be release MobileChat 2.1 later this week/this weekend. It works fully on 1.1.3.This isn’t a major release, it’s more of a compatibility release with a few fixes and a feature add:

  • Works on 1.1.3
  • DNS Issue that plagued 1.x and 2.0 has been resolved.
  • BSD Subsystem dependency should be gone.
  • Added support for XMPP
  • Tweaked GTalk settings
  • Sign On progress notifications (as seen in screenshots)
  • Disconnect Notification: if you get kicked off, or you can’t sign on, you’ll be alerted now
  • AIM is working fine, the hold up is with XMPP/GTalk. While we resolved the DNS issues that really held both services back during the initial release of 2.0, we’re running into issues with authentication on both services now. We’re exploring the option of upgrading to libpurple 2.3, and have it 95% compiled on the iPhone at this point. Should only be another few days to finish up the port of libpurple to the iPhone and then upgrading the method calls in the application.

I’m sure the AIM users are going to be saying “I don’t care about XMPP, I want it now” however, believe me, a newly compiled libpurple on the iPhone will definitely improve performance.

    Stay tuned guys!

Oh, and for those of you who really can’t wait for us to release this later this week, SVN Revision 72 works fine for AIM.

    Hello!

I want to try and help you in testing this new relase but I cant compile it myself.

Can you give us a compiled version of this beta version?

Hooray! I’ve been waiting for this to be finally updated. I assume you’ll have more time to work on this now that your other project was updated?

Thank god. Need. Working. Copy. 1.1.3 Soon…

Just to give you guys an update:

Sadly it doesn’t look like we’re going to get GTalk working in the immediate future, so we’re going to pull GTalk support from MobileChat in 2.1. We’ll still have XMPP support as long as the server you use supports the login methods we’re able to use at this time.

    The bigger news:
We’re adding in horizontal support. Once thats release we’re going to tie up a few loose ends and get v2.1 in your hands this weekend.

    @Shaun!

Beautifull, now Im trying rev 73, but have some issue to fix, for example problem in loading and cleaning buddy list of msn messenger.

Then I see orizzontal view, but not fit the screen.

Can u update a new REV so I can help you in testing?

Also a problem with edit button, that flip the screen and not edit the accounts.

    Its Sunday now!
is it going to be released today???

    Oh and also
and will it crash alot on the iPod Touch like the 2.0 version?

    Wow. I’m desperately waiting!

Hopefully this will be released today. I don’t think I can stand another pushback.

This better come! I just emailed them.

“Hopefully this will be released today. I don’t think I can stand another pushback.”

Me neither! There’s three apps that I’m currently waiting on at the moment: MobileChat, SwirlyMMS, and iSMS.

I’ve been checking their respective sites everyday for updates. I ecstatic when I saw their 1.1.3 announcement and how it was to be released “later this week/this weekend.”

(hoping for a “later tonight” release)

    *There’re

    *I was ecstatic

Maybe theyre waiting for the update to go into Installer
cuz it takes time doesn’t it?
maybe when its up they’ll post something on the site to check or something

I promise it’s coming soon guys.

    Stay tuned!

    @Shaun

    how soon?
    like how many more days?

I’m doing my best to get it out tonight, so we’re not talking days

    oh haha
    alright
    thank you!

    Thank you very much! ;)

Some images appear to be broken (show up as black) when used on an iPod Touch. Is there a fix for this?

I still don’t see it on installer.app… Can someone email me a howto install without installer.app?

    Thanks!

Hey mobilechat keeps crashing for me, and clue as to why? It loads fine buddylist loads and what not but crashes after 5 mins, any help would be greatly appreciated. And thank you for the update, i always loved this over Apollo.
