QuickShareIt 2.0 Finally Arrives, albeit, a little late.

Yes, you read it right, after almost an entire year of testing, developing and tweaking working on other projects, twenty08 is pleased to announce the final 2.0 public release of QuickShareIt. For those of you who are jumping for joy, head over to www.quickshareit.com to grab the latest copy, for everyone who’s still with me, here’s a peak at what’s changed and what’s new:

What’s changed?

Everything! QuickShareIt was redesigned from the ground up. 98% of the original code base has been rewritten with speed and efficiency in mind.

  • Upload up to 100mb per file. (No joke, it actually works this time!)
  • View the progress and speed of your uploads. (No more guess work.)
  • Upload more than just pictures, MP3’s or Video’s you can even drag text on to QSI! You can upload more without having it shoved into a zip file!
  • MP3 and Video Preview. Now your files can be previewed on the web before you download them!
  • Link tracking! Can’t remember the link to the 98MB archive you uploaded 2 hours ago? No problem! Manage your past uploads with ease.
  • Want that URL sent to the clipboard? Want it in a text box? Want it for later? More options for getting the URL, FAST!
  • Automatic Updates! Now you can keep QSI up to date with Sparkle integration!
  • Quick Drag ‘n Drop galleries! Grab a bunch of photos from your desktop and throw them on the QSI icon. BOOM! A gallery is automatically created for you and the link provided! Forget all those photo sites, you can’t get easier than that!

Aside from all that, we’ve upgraded our hosting infrastructure. We’re in a bigger and better facility with more options to grow! You should definitely notice an increase in speed, and if you don’t. LET US KNOW!

What hasn’t changed?

  • There STILL aren’t any annoying ads anywhere to be seen. We can’t promise that the download pages will remain ad free forever, but forget anything thats annoying or forces you to look at them before you can download. MegaUpload and RapidShare might be great and all, but WE HATE ADS!
  • It’s still free! In the next month or so we’ll be adding paid services for corporate accounts and some special features for paid users; but the base QSI will always remain free.

What’s it look like?

Well for the full preview, you need to take a look at QuickShareIt’s website. But here’s a few screenshots to munch on:

Special thanks to everyone who waited while we got our crap together and made this release a reality. Our 2008 New Years resolution is to pay attention to our products a little bit more and keep providing some amazing software for you guys to work with! There’s a lot in the pipe-line folks, keep using it and let us know what you want to see more of!

whoa! this is incredible guys. the only thing i’d love to see is a way to put an icon up in the menu bar while getting rid of the dock icon.

but still, this is amazing. i’ve been waiting for a while. keep up the great work

We have thought about it. There’s plenty more coming in the future. Just trying to keep everything simple!

PERFECT! Thank you and congrats!

Brilliantly simple : Simply briliant!

Why is the signup page down? Aren’t you accepting new accounts?

brilliant. so easy! joshua : you don’t need an account! just drag the file/s to the icon and it will upload them anonymously and give you a URL!

Thanks for making such an incredibly simple app to use :)

I’ve never been a fan of uploading apps (yousendit is one of them, although they’re pretty good actually), but this one is a miracle! If there’s óne thing i love it’s apps that simplifies your actions on your computer.

I’m not sure if you’re already working on it, but I do have one feature request if possible; the “recent uploads” window doesn’t always appear when I want it to. Is it possible to make a litlte option in either the menu or in a menu when rightclicking the icon in the Dock, that will allow you to open that “recent uploads” window?

Other then that, thanks again for this little wonder. This one goes right next to DIsco, VLC-player and Transmission in my top-list of “little apps that do big things” :)

This is really good. Manning the appreciation stations!
What I would like to see is a quicksilver integration. Select file in Quicksilver - Open With - Quickshareit. That would rock. I think it´s pretty simple, but I don´t know how to do it.

I think I love you.

Great app. Just a quick bug report:
1. If you close the ‘Recent Shares’ window, you can’t get it back unless you relaunch the app.

2. When entering in information about the gallery, the tab button isn’t functional and ends up highlighting.

Michael:

Question 1: You can hit cmd+u or go to Windows -> Recent Uploads.

We’re going to add it to the contextual dock icon as well as rename “Recent Uploads” to “Recent Shares” in the Windows menu.

Question 2: This was an oversight during the release process and will be addressed in 2.0.2..

We appreciate all of your feedback and keep letting us know what we’re doing right, and what we’re doing wrong!

Also, before anyone asks, I believe there is a bug where the app ignores the setting for when to display the successful upload window. We’re looking into when it occurs and will have it fixed in 2.0.2.

[…] OS X 10.4. Demnächst soll es kostenpflichtige Premium-Accounts geben, QSI wird sich laut Anbieter twenty08 aber auch weiterhin kostenlos und ohne Account nutzen […]

This is a great application! I would like to be able to upload the stuff to a server more close to my country though. Perhaps you could build an API (but the other way around, kind of) and let users upload to other servers, like pici.se for us in Sweden.

I like the idea behind that app, but i crash on my system after a upload complete :( Running 10.5.1 on Macbook Core 2 Duo
Hope that get be fixed in the future;)

Shaun:

Back to bug 1. I know that you’re able to ask for the window to come back but it actually doesn’t work, not for me anyway.

Thanks

Why isn’t this posted to macupdate?? Get it on there!! :)
