Pleased to announce.. MobileChat 1.0b1!

connecting.pngtwenty08 has officially released it’s first iPhone Application!

We feel we started things off in a big way with MobileChat, an AIM client for your iPhone. The way we see it, this is the way cupertino intended AIM to be on the iPhone.

There’s really not much to say other then go try and and let us know what you think!

Hop over to blog.twenty08.com/mobilechat to read more about it and download it.

Oh yeah, this is also our first Open Source project, you can go to the above link to download the full source released under CC-GPL.

Enjoy Guys,
Shaun

This is AMAZING, way better than ApolloIM. Keep up the great work!

Much better than Apollo but still a little wonky. I’m having problems with buddy list features: if you have a buddy with random capitalized letters, ie “AbcDeFG” and you initiate conversation, the reply will come in a separate window from sender “abcdefg”. Still no ability to close chats or set custom aways. Meebo and flickim each have these options. I understand native apps are harder to make than web 2.0 apps, but I just thought you would enjoy some constructive criticism. Looking forward to an update, keep up the good work!

This app is just not showing up in Installer’s list for me, even when I refersh. I’m using version 2.3.

Can you link the binary?

already an awesome app, I can’t wait to see where it goes!

What a great surprise today! Very nice job so far - you twenty08 developers are dead on with this and I’m looking forward to a fuller set of features and some tweaks here and there. Will there be another area for specific comments and bug reports? I hope you’re creating some kind of email notification system for updates ‘n’ such - if so, put me on it, Installer sometimes keeps us hanging.

Any chance you guys are planning jabber integration?

any chance you will support ichat @mac.com accounts… tried to log in with mine and got user name error.

We’re going to be adding .Mac & Jabber support, check out this link:

We are rooting for you over at AskTheAdmin.com. GO OPEN SOURCE. wouldn’t it have been easier if Apple would have just put out an SDK to begin with?

Great work, guys. My feature requests are:

Always online (via some sort of daemon, perhaps?)

Pop-up notifications (e.g. the same way SMS does)

Groups, especially the all-important “Offline” group.

Better icon would be nice!

Thanks again!

this is a great program man, keep it goin wit the updates. all u really need is custom aways, icons and a steady connection…file transfer can come later and so on and so forth….nice work!!

very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
