Quick Tip: Reset your iPhone’s Dictionary
Sure you’re going to lose some of those not so proper words, but it’s worth it.
This is especially effective if you haven’t done it since you’ve started using your iPhone. The iPhone learns from every keystroke you make, so in the beginning when you couldn’t go 3 letters without completely screwing up, the iPhone remembered that. It seems over time the iPhone’s dictionary gets a bit congested from all the typo’s and ends up being less than accurate.
The first time I noticed this was when I accidentally bricked my iPhone while syncing, I some how disconnected it at the exact time for it to think all of my downloaded MP3’s legally purchased iTunes AAC files were “other files” and i was stuck with an iPhone that had 7gb of “other files” and no room for anything. I was forced to do a restore (which is absolutely awesome for anyone who hasn’t done it, Apple did an amazing job here). The restore resets the iPhone’s dictionary and I noticed much more accurate “suggestions” from the iPhone afterwards.
The second time was today, as I noticed the iPhone’s suggestions were getting a bit out of control, and yet again, it really cleared things up. It’s much more accurate without all of the congested crap it learns form your hand movements.
In my opinion, the easiest way for Apple to deal with this, is let us manually add, edit, and delete words from the iPhone’s dictionary.
Take Care,
Shaun
