QuickShareIt Beta 5? Anyone?
Alright, it’s been a long road. We’re almost at the finish line.
We’ve heard you, we’ve taken into account all of your requests. We believe we have the perfect file sharing solution for OS X.
We want to make sure we got it right this time, so we’re going to start Beta 5 off as a private Beta a week before it’s initial release. We’re aiming to release Beta 5 around the mid-July mark, possibly sooner. We’re going to be giving out private copies of QuickShareIt Beta 5 approximately a week before then to test it and work out any big issues we might of missed while testing it internally. If you’d like to participate in the private beta please email support@twenty08.com with the subject “QuickShareIt Private Beta Participation” with a brief description on how long you’ve been using Mac, you’re experience level with Mac, and what you primarily use QuickShareIt for. We’d like to get a diverse group of beginners to experts to test it out.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, what’s different? I’ll bore everyone with the technical details upon launch, but first I’d like to officially debut what has been the most requested feature for QuickShareIt.

The days of QuickShareIt locking up while uploading your file are gone. You’re now shown a progress indicator (bottom bar) and the upload speed (top bar).
If you feel QuickShareIt is getting too complicated and you want the simplicity of the old QuickShareIt back, now you can. We’ve built in an entire preference window into Beta 5. You’ll be able to turn Growl Notifications on and off, disable the Success Window, chose whether or not to show the progress indicators and some other things.
“I want to delete my downloads!” “Where can I see all of my previous downloads?
Done. We’ve implemented an optional account section into the QuickShareIt App and the Website. From there you’ll be able to see a complete history of your downloads, delete them, and in the future set a password to them.

The next feature we’re announcing today is probably going to turn out to be the most convenient feature we put into QuickShareIt Beta 5. We have implemented “Sparkle”. Sparkle is an automated update system (you can of course, disable it) that will update the application for you as new releases roll out. You’ll notice right away Sparkle feels a bit “familiar” that’s because numerous great OS X applications already use it to manage their updates, including the popular Instant Messaging client Adium.
What’s left?
We’ve got a few other things up our sleeves, but the biggest new feature of QuickShareIt has never been requested by anyone. We’re going to hold off on announcing this until release day, but all of you photo-sharers out there, are going to love it.
The important part about all of this is QuickShareIt is only as advanced as you want it to be. If you prefer the single icon, no account, and just want it to copy to your clipboard you can do it.
Stay tuned, July is going to be a great month for QuickShareIt!
While I love the idea of QuickShareIt, the b4 just doesn’t work and b5 has not made it’s supposed July appearance. Any news on this?
