My Thoughts on the Season 3 Finale of Lost..
If you haven’t seen it yet, spoilers are most definitely contained below…
===========================
That was awesome.
I usually read some spoilers or episode previews each week, but for as long as I can remember, I never let myself read spoilers/previews for the season finale episodes. I’m so happy I didn’t ruin the finale of Lost for myself.
Thoughts:
I began to question whether it was a flashback of flash forward towards the very beginning when they showed how poor and reckless Jack was apparently was living.
Once they maid reference to the black guy being the new head of surgery, combined with us knowing Jack ahd his father (old head of surgery) fired which is when he fled to austriala and Jack had to go fine him.. it was pretty clear.
And then the clincher for it being a flash forward: Jack had a black krzr, which came out this past year.
Who’s in the coffin?
Initial reaction? Ben.
After 2 hours of thinking? I think it’s Sawyer. It’s too obvious of an answer for Ben to be in the coffin, and way too obvious that Kate has to get back to “him”, and him being Sawyer. I think Sawyer burned bridges further to the point where no one considered him a friend anymore.
Jack specifically called Kate to see if she went to the funeral, why wouldn’t Jack call anyone else if it was Ben? He specifically called Kate to see, which to me kind of implies it was someone direclty related to Kate that she no longer likes.. Sawyer.
Who got off the island?
We know for sure Jack and Kate got off. We also pretty much know for sure there were 2 other people. The guy Kate had to go back to and the guy in the coffin.
As mentioned previously, I think the guy in the coffin is Sawyer. So the real question is who did Kate fall for between current island time and that flash-forward that she is living with?
More thoughts..
I think it’s quite obvious that not everyone got off the Island. The scene of Jack’s apartment showed maps all over the place which clearly implies Jack was trying to find the Island.
Biggest question for me:
Was this a flash forward? A Premonition by Jack? Or..
Was the “flash forward” really ‘real time’ and Lost has been one giant flashback?
Another theory
During the flashback with Desmond (Episode 3×08) it was inferred that Desmond was reliving previous events in his life. “You’re not supposed to buy the ring” etc..
This implies that events on the island could change what we see in the flashforwards and events in the flashbacks could be changed from their original story (going back and changing them, the whole time/space thoery) thus changing not only what we thinking is “present time” on the Island, but changing the flashforwards as well.
The Naomi, Penny, and Desmond Connection:
Nothing real noteworthy here, just a bit of speculation. Penny’s father as we’ve seen, hates Desmond. Could Penny’s father found out what Penny was doing and found the Island before Penny did and send someone to take it over?
Jack talking about his father in the “flash forward” as if he’s really there
I think Jack referencing his father at the hospital was due to the fact that Jack’s father pretty much drank himself to death, so if he’s drunker then his father.. fire him because he’d be dead anyway. This also obviously ties into his father constantly drinking on the job and no one saying anything about it.
Hoffs/Drawlar
This is the name of the funeral parlor Jack went to. This is an anagram for “Flash Forward”.
The body of who?
Snippet of the newspaper article Jack saw.. http://clementine.quickshareit.com/share/picture5ce8ee.png. Any ideas what comes after “The body of”?
Lastly..
We know just about everything about everyones past, theres not much more they can do. Will the rest of the flashes for the next 3 seasons be flash-forwards?
I’ve read a lotta posts about this and some say the aubituary has a J on it, it could be John (Locke) IT COULD BE James (Sawyer) or it could be Juliet, this is definetly the darkest Lost finale yet, maybe Jack becomes Darth Vader lol, I love it.
