QuickShareIt Update
Just wanted to let everyone know that development of QSI is still ongoing. We’ve got a lot of fun stuff in the works for Beta 5 and we want to deliver on Beta 5 so we’ve held off on releasing something we’re not 100% comfortable putting out there. Up until Beta 5, it was a race for us to try and push out updates without doing any QA, or adding new features. For smaller files, QSI Beta 4 does its job, and does it well. This is why we haven’t released Beta 5.
We’ve been testing Beta 5 large file uploading abilities for the last few weeks and everything has gone smoothly, without any hiccups. You can definitely look forward to flawless (well, near flawless) uploading for files up to 100MB when we finally release Beta 5.
Along with Beta 5, we’re going to be adding a lot of new features. We’ve added an entire preference pane that will let you manage various aspects of the application. I touched on this a bit more in my last post, so refer to that for more information.
The biggest feature we’re going to add in Beta 5 is web based management. While this isn’t necessary to use the application, if you would like to, you’ll be able to sign up for a QSI account and view all of your uploads (since you signed up). From there, you’ll be able to delete them, and various other stuff we have planned for launch, and for the future.
Also, some of you might be wondering what “blueorbs” is. Last week we switched datacenters, and essentially changed the way our entire server cluster works. In order to insure no down time, we initially put the new setup live using blueorbs.com and then switched our DNS over for QuickShareIt. Over the next week or so, your downloads will return back to quickshareit.com.
We’re a full development company here at twenty08, QSI isn’t our only product, which is another reason for the pace of releases of QuickShareIt. We’re going to be releasing a few more Mac products that we’ve been working on over the next few months, as well as a web based application we’re really excited about. The web based application is due out late Summer, while the next Mac application should be available for beta testing in May. Just to give a bit of hints as to what else we’re doing, one of our Mac applications will involve iTunes, and I’m excited to be the first person to announce to you that our web based application will be called “Socialize”. We’ll have more details on both as soon as we’re ready to let everyone know.
