Quick Upload? You betcha!
I was sitting at my desk on Friday working on some design tweaks for one of my latest projects. I had to send some screenshots over to my co-worker who was sitting in the next room. Normally this would be a quick trip over to ImageShack where I would grab the file, upload it, then get the direct url to the image and IM it to my co-worker. I’ve done it 1000x before and this one should of been no different. Well, it was.
After sifting through all the ridiculous ads on the ImageShack site trying to find the URL, I decided I needed something better. I’m on a mac…can’t this be easier???
I did a quick search and I figured out that my favorite FTP application, Transmit, had a neat thing that let you setup a “Droplet” that you could automatically upload to one your sites. That worked ok for a while, but after I uploaded the file, I had to go type in the URL and worse, I had to deal with overwriting old files all the time because it wasn’t able to just rename it to something random.
It was ok…but not perfect. I NEED perfect!

This is a great tool and service, thank you. I was using dropcopy (http://10base-t.com) for quite a long time now. Its freeware as well, but only useful in a LAN network, no configuring of IP addresses. Maybe the better solution for your example on top. But not good for external network exchange.
